1. I have to start with the state legislature – A total of 22 incumbents will be defeated for re-election. This includes both Senate and House races. I’m not sure how many are too chicken to face the voters, but the number of “retirements” will be abnormally high as well – unfortunately – I’d rather give people an opportunity to to tell their state reps to F off. The main issues of the election will be the pay raise, slots, and legislative incompetence in ever passing a real estate tax reform bill.
1a. 2 members of the Leadership will be thrown out. Thank God, its about time.
2. This is more a wish than anything else – there will be a move to replace the Speaker of the House. I don’t think it will be successful, but it would be a move in the right direction.
3. Santorum will get re-elected. I’ll predict the percentage will be 52%-48%.
4. The GOP State Committee will pick Scranton as its candidate for Governor and Jim Matthews as Lt. Gov. There will be still be a primary. Scranton will win the governor primary, but Matthews will have a hard time against Turzai.
5. Rendell will earn another term, the historical curse for challengers will stay in tact. Rendell will win by 55%-45%.
6. The Colts will win the Super Bowl over the Seattle Seahawks 48-38. It’ll be a good game too, with the last 10 Colts points coming in the last 5 minutes of the game.
7. The state legislature will still not get it. They will attempt to pass another piece of legistation that will outrage people for an extended period of time. Comments about immigrant farm workers will be mild in comparison to what some legislators will be saying publicly.
8. A Constitutional Convention will start to become reality. But, it will have to be put off longer than reformers had hoped because those in power will pull out all the stops to prevent the convention from happening. The whole issue will be tied up in courts for many months with no resolution in 2006.
9. I will run in 2 marathons this year. I will finish atleast one of them in under 4 hours.
[...] On Dec. 30th, I made my annual predictions – let’s review how I did. [...]
